Based on the coordination performance and nitrophilic properties of Hg2+with PEC. It is envisaged that the interaction of Hg2+with four arm PEG and triazole groups can make rhodamine dyes more sensitive from fluorescent spirochete ring type to fluorescent open ring type. By utilizing the high hydrophilicity and crown like ether structure of PEG, a new fluorescent probe capable of detecting Hg2+in pure water medium has been designed and synthesized.
